Urinary Care

A healthy bladder starts with the right balance of vital nutrients. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which may lead to the creation of bladder stones. They can cause discomfort and lead to more serious problems that require the care of a veterinarian.

Hill's nutritionists & veterinarians developed Prescription Diet® c/d® Multicare clinical nutrition specially formulated to support your cat's urinary health. In fact, c/d Multicare is clinically tested nutrition to lower the recurrence of most common urinary signs by 89%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product!!! Two years ago my cat, Reuben, became partially blocked. His urinary obstruction was able to resolve without hospitalization. A urinalysis revealed that he had struvite crystals in his urine and on ultrasound his bladder looked like the busiest snow globe that I have ever seen! It was recommended by my veterinarian to feed him the s/d diet for one month and then recheck his bladder. Amazingly, the crystals completely dissolved! It was then recommended that I keep him on the c/d diet to prevent this from happening to him again. I have done just that, and not only does my Reuben love the food, he has not had this problem again. Thank you Hill's!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank heavens for c/d Our 1 year-old cat was having issues with frequent small voids and peeing in the bathroom sinks and tubs. At first we thought it was behavioral, however when we started seeing blood in his urine we took him immediately to our vet. After an ultrasound showed significant crystals in his bladder he was started on the s/d diet to eliminate the crystals. From there the vet switched him to the c/d diet. Urinary issues resolved completely. At the suggestion of our vet we tried to switch him back over to the regular food we feed our other cat. Within a week Maestro had recurrence of his urinary symptoms. After talking with the doctor Maestro will remain on c/d diet for the long term. It's worth it as he has many good years left.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from wish they would make it with less carbs My cat was put on this diet for struvite stones. Despite the 1/2 c feeding that she got per day, she gained 3 lbs. in a year on this food. She would eat it soo fast that she would throw it up. This happened 3 or more times a week. We had to start feeding her on a plate to spread the food out. She wouldn't want to play or do anything but eat. It feltlike we were starving her. She is nnow 20lbs. and the vet has no suggestions on gettinbg her weight down except to feed her less. I wish they could make a lower carb, higher protein version to help those cats who love this food too much

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I turned to c/d to minimize the frequency of bladder stones in my cats after I fed them "natural" cat foods. I have not had any problems since. I was feeding my cats "natural" dry cat foods and found an increased incidence in bladder stones. I switched all my cats to c/d (chicken) which they seem to like and I have not had any incidents of stones requiring hospitalization. The only suggestion I have for Hill's: go back to the resealable bags (I love the velcro but I only see it on the smaller size bags and I always buy c/d in the largest size since I have six cats). The resealable bags were very convenient and easier to use. The large size bags do not reseal and I have to transfer the food into another box or tub. Also: I recently tried c/d Ocean Fish Flavor which the cats seem to like even more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy Pets, Happy Pet Parents Our three cats have been eating dry C/D since our oldest cat was a kitten and had a medical problem. My middle guy was an SPCA cat and ate whatever they had in stock prior to coming to live with us. He took to the C/D immediately and being a fussy boy who won't even eat a treat, I was happy that the food met his "high standards"!!! I rated it average for value for the money because it is kind of pricy to feed three cats this prescription food but revisiting the vet bill from the medical issue, I might want to change that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life Saver My male cat Alice was acting funny and started crying the 2nd day. I took him to his vet and he told me that he had developed crystals and had a blockage. He gave me three options, either I could do nothing and he would die, that he could use a catheter and clear the crystals but they would probably return since he was only 3 or three, have surgery that would enlarge his urethra so that if he developed crystals in the future he would pass them and be on your food for the rest of his life. We chose option three and now two months later Alice is back to his normal self and enjoying his food (both wet and dry) and his sister is also eating so she doesn't have to suffer the same fate. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works I have a male cat with urinary tract issues (blood in urine). My vet prescribed Hill's® Prescription Diet® c/d® Multicare Feline with Chicken Urinary Tract Health to help prevent bladder stones and other discomforts associated with urinary tract issues. I have been very satisfied with the result. To my knowledge, my cat no longer experiences bladder stones or discomfort due to his urinary tract issues. I refuse to feed him anything else. The only con is the cost. Compared to other cat foods on the market, this is a very expensive product, making it financially difficult to make the best nutritional choice for my cat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for pet's needs When we found our newest child, Rotor, she was suffering from severe bladder crystals and massive infections. She has been symptom free for over 18 months. Her weight is good and she is very happy and healthy. We continue to feed as recommended by our vet and hope she has a long healthy life. We also use the m/d formula for our second youngest, Leo, same age, who has a weight issue and predisposition for diabetes. He is also very healthy and happy with his food. Though the food is pricier than anything store-bought a price cannot and must not be put above our family, be them human or furry. And we are thankful for your products and the benefits we have seen first hand. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
